MG Crossbone Gundam X2; Full Cloth ver.

Hello all!
I started snapping MG Crossbone Gundam Full Cloth together yesterday, so I guess that means my X2 project is officially open. (btw, this is my entry for the GE Group Build.)
I considered the different versions of the X2 out there. Some have the normal head, some have the "Kai" head. Some have normal thrusters in the back, some have modified thrusters... In the end I decided to base mine on the FIX Figuration X2 as seen here. So I'll be using the Kai head, but no modified thrusters. I like the look of the normal ones better. The only real modifications I'll be doing aside from the paint job are adding a resin Shot Lance (from Tatsu Hobby) and some X2 decals (from Samuel Decal.) Oh I forgot, I'll also be modifying the V-fin to match the one X2 is supposed to have...

I will be changing the color scheme a bit from the FIX version. All of the parts that are black on the X1, will also be black on my X2. However all of the parts that were white on the X1 will be dark blue on X2. Just to throw in some variety... Not to mention I'm also painting the Full Cloth parts in X2 colors. I won't be painting the Muramasa Buster though. I'm saving it for a potential X3 in the future :P

I've already done a little bit of painting on the Shot Lance. All the parts are sanded and primed but the only one that's actually painted is the main pointy-end.

And for those who dislike the Full Cloth for it's balance issues or lack of ability to hold it's weapons, I've made this humorous image :)

How long did you get the full-cloth to stay in that pose? No more than 20 secs before things started to fall off? =P

Good luck with the build, looking forward to it

Thank you! I hate how people say it's got bad balance! You just have to pose it right, and if you paint it, it's perfectly fine! ^_^

Got the Shot Lance mostly painted today... I may still paint on some details. After that, it'll just need decals and a flat coat. Not sure if the black and dark blue look all that different on camera. I mean, I can tell they're there, but maybe that's because I know to look for the difference...

Man, everyone's building an X-2, now lol. I plan to build my own in the next few months. I'm very curious to see how you do your V-fin. Your work so far is excellent as alway, vegeta. Can't wait to see more.

Now that the review's done, I can start painting today :) I'm gonna try something different with the inner frame. Rather than spray it all one color and handbrush some small details like I usually do, I'm gonna try using multiple shades of grays and silvers for the frame. Hopefully, it'll turn out well!

Very impressed by the lance, it is indeed possible to see the black and dark blue shades in the imagem but they are very similar.

I would imagine that in real life its much easier to differentiate the shades.

I'm loving the different shades of gray on the internal frame! The bright purple/blue you chose for the feet is great, too. Can't wait to see more!

The Shot Lance has been decaled and flat coated. I straightened the long handle on the back with some hot water, but it still has a slight curve to it... I'll post some pics of the body armor later this evening...

the front half (the pointy end) broke at the connection peg... a little epoxy fixed it.

*EDIT
This is as far as I got today. I really like the way the black and dark blue turned out. It's a subtle difference, but just enough to be noticed. I modified the v-fin today, but it didn't turn out as good as I would have liked... I may go back and redo it...

Nice mod on the V Fin, and I'm glad to see you got rid of the skull on the chest. Honestly, I think the pirate theme on Crossbone is my least favorite part of it, and I really dig Crossbone itself.

Nicely done so far though. Can't wait to see pics of it all finished up.

Um, i'm sure the reason he didn't put the skull on the chest is that the x2 does not have a skull on the chest. It has the Skull heart logo on it's cockpit hatch.

Oh, I didn't know since I have yet to read Crossbone. I assumed they might be the same, but, guess I'm wrong :P
