Over the year I got really nice kits, but every now and then people I know run into a gundam that just stinks with the majority of it's aspects. What kit's were your guys bad buy? I'm starting this thread so everyone will be well aware XD

Ever the obvious...

It's not really bad but the MG Gouf Custom is a disappointment. It's unable to hold it's shield properly without reinforcing the joints.

The mg gp02a i was hoping for a epic shield pose but the thing can't even hold it right so i just took it off and made him hold the bazooka and a beam saber

Idk if i'm alone on this but MG Unicorn. It's not bad, but it just isn't that great. The transformation makes a lot of the parts very floppy, the white parts hardly cover up the pink/red in unicorn mode, and the articulation really limits the epic poses you can get.

Actually, my F91 is pretty stable. The pointing finger would get loose every once in a while but nothing a nice coat of paint on some joints can fix.

I've actually got one, and I've got to say that there arent any problems with it. Unpainted too. One kit not to touch imho is the crossbone full cloth, the main body is passable, but the full cloth armor is horrible, so loose. On mine and my cousins

Crossbone painted is fine!

Edit* Disregard this didn't read the post properly. Sadly yea the clothe just falls down even with paint. Unless you literally paint it, pose it, and NEVER change it's position. :/

Well, maybe I got a bad one, all of the joints were loose, couldn't hold his beam rifle, a lot of the armor fell off, I glued and stiffened all that I could. It's pretty much a brick now... Needless to say, I was pretty dissapointed with it.

Another addition I can add, HG Exia. Yes, as much as I love Exia, the shoulder connectors are terrible, they're on the loosest ball joints ever... I'm glad I have the MG though, one of my favorites :)

btw Griffith, if you need to edit a post, there's an edit button at the bottom of your post

Thanks for telling me. And don't you just hate having the only bad one >.>
It happens, but it sucks....

By the way. I came across a few OLD sd kits that had parts *how do I describe??* parts that hardly connected, and when they did they either had a small gap or look like one part was overlapping another. I'm bad at describing -.-
The first edition SD Zeong had a bit of the problems

Unless it held the shield with both hands, but then it wouldn't look as good.

MG Gelgoog 1.0. I bought the Gato version which is just a recolor of the original and the skirt armor is terrible. It's not articulated like on the 2.0 but that's not the problem. All of the 5 external skirt parts attach to 2 big internal skirt parts beneath them, you can't call them an internal frame 'cause they're molded in the same color. Anyway, getting the exterior pieces to fit in without one getting pushed a bit out of place is just impossible. That's my only really big gripe with the kit, the rest is due to expecting way too much from an old kit after being spoiled by new ones.

Aw, I really like the V Gundam kit. Sure, it's hip joints are absolute crap, but if you pose it and put it on your shelf you can make it look rather cool. I've got mine on an action base posed like it's flying forward with a beam saber and shield. I really love the look of that suit.

@Yami4ct
I love the Victory kit too. Apart from the lack of waist articulation, I have no real problems; the bottom locks into the top perfectly fine for me - I can shake him and he won't come apart.
I do dislike the fact that the vents on the back don't have thrusters in them, but whatever.

A lot of SDs are simply crap; no amount of putty can fix those seam lines. There's shocking amounts of flash as well, and the dreaded empty parts SDs are so famous for.

I'm still very pissed off about the Byalant kit I bought; I have no idea what design the makers were looking at.

EDIT: @Griffith
Is that avatar from that Advance Wars game? The non-cartoony one? I think I recognise it, and it's annoying the heck out of me that I can't fully place it.

MG Crossbone Full Cloth has a lot is articulation issues. It is also almost incapable of holding its weapons.
Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic

MG Gouf Custom (mine hold it's shield fine, but the knee and hip joints are loose as hell)
MG V Gundam (falls apart like a week old zombie)
MG GP02A (I really want to like this kit, but it's got so many stability issues and it's sooooooo 1.0)
MG Zaku II v1.0 (just because there's so many other better Zakus out there)
PG 00 Raiser (unless you find it for under $200 (unlikely) don't bother...)

The 1/60 V2 Gundam

Some of the parts were very brittle and broke easily. I don't know if it's because it's an old kit or the way the parts were made.

Some the MG Gundam F91 parts feel very loose, or it could be the way I put it together.

My f91 and f91 Harris are both floppy now. :D

Here's my gunpla beware list based on my experience with them. 1990-2010.

HG Aura Battler 006 Leprechaun: Production error. ABS is brittle.

HG 1/100 Gundam Astray Red Frame 2nd. L: ABS parts are produced with PS.

HGUC GP01 GP01fb: Lots of small and brittle PS parts.

MG Hi-Nu: Beware of the all ABS pelvis joint connections. Also, very tiny easy to loose thrusters for the fuel tanks.

MG Guncannon: Pelvis joint construction is prone to breakage. Poor engineering.

MG EX-S: Has plenty of easy to break points. Complicated transformation.

MG ReGZ: Bluish plastic being thin and brittle.

MG Kampfer: Leg joint prone to breakage. Poor engineering.

MG Gogg: Peg connections make armor removal difficult.

MG Z'Gok: Ankle joint construction is weak. Poor engineering.

HGUC Quebley: Flimsy shoulders with no locking tabs.

1/100 HG Victory Gundam: Overall flimsiness.

MG Guntank. Threads can easily get dislodge.

MG G-Fighter: Complicated convertion.

1/144 Gundam Leopard. Misleading modified finished product pictured on the box.

1/144 Wing Gundam series. Turn-A kits put these to shame. They're cheaper too.

MG Zeta. Katoki redesign that reeks with build issues. Ver. 2 solved everything.

HG 1/144Cherudim Gundam GNHW/R: Loose PS to PS connections.

MG Type 100 w/ Balute System or any "Gloss" kit: Shiny plastic is brittle and may present trimming issues.
