HG Loto Twin - weak knee joint?

Ngee Khiong has posted a small warning to anyone intending to buy the HG Loto Twin Set.

It appears from initial reviews on Futaba Imageboard that the knee joints are very weak and there is a real danger of damage when transforming the model.

The issues revolves around the hinge joint which connects the knee and the leg. It can't bend forward because of its design, and bending it backwards is restricted due to the caterpillar behind the calf and this is creating a potential hazard to the knee.

Is anyone on the forum planning to buy this model?

I do, but whenever I get it I won't even think about transforming it

I'm planing to buy this one. one knee joint down, three more to break lol. I think it's mostly human factor, that's what you get for twisting every joint a 360 in a review lol.

I think it's more of Bandai's error. They should have given the hinge joint the proper thickness/shape, but they were limited by the fact of small size and the polycap-less design.

On topic, I was never planning on getting this.

It seems every polycap-less kit has something wrong with it. F91, Crossbone, Victory, and now Loto

thats one super small MS... i dont see how they got so many people to fit in it in the anime and the cockpit was a huge room that had like 3 of 4 people piloting it. Or that could have been something else....

That's exactly what I was thinking, normal MS's can only have 1 person, but really small ones can have 3-4?

Thats why they sell two for one, so you dont have to transform it.
It looks like a hook shaped part, those are very prone to snapping.

The knee joint is a poor design decision from Bandai, if a model is designed to transform then it should be able to do so without the risk of damage to the kit.

they might hear a lot of complaints about this so id hold off on buying it for some time if you plan on getting it. there might just very well be a re-issue at some point.

I do plan to get it. But I might just wait and see if there is a re-release of it like vektar said.

i think the knee joint is just due to roughness because if you fiddle around with kits with no polycaps they have high breaking rates like my first mg the unicorn gundam i messed with it too much and tons of things broke so if you do get this kit make sure to either replace the joint completely or just be extremly gentle :teehee:
