Hi guys,

since I finally have some spraypaints ready it itches me to start work on either HG Kshatriya or MG Zaku II MS-06J.

I did a quick test spray on a spare sprue outside on the balcony atm it' s freezing around -6 to -7 C°

I am still pondering what sequence is the best...

First nip the parts sand the nubs away, wash and then prime then spray paint or totally sand the part complete, wash and then prime and spray paint?

Also I would like what you think colorwise would it look good if I replace the light mint green on the Zaku with this leave-green spray-paint?

the white sprue was spray painted on without priming obviously

Never Question The GLOSS!! Ever!

nip>sand>prime>paint thats the order i normaly use

but i dont prime that much anymore it works beter for me that way

as for the green, its all about what u think will works best.

normaly when i post wip threads and they question my color choices i dont mind because the end result is always boss.

look over the parts and figure out what would fit it best ^__^

i agree with gao aka "the boss", posting a wip with some color suggestions, always is good. i mean it kinda lets you get a feel from what other people might see the kit as, but still the end result it is still up to you, i mean after all it is your kit, and you will be stuck with it lol :P

but regarding they sequence you "should" do is really, well it can be done any way really lol

the way i do it is,
nip the part, shave down the nubs, sand nubs, sand the parts that i think need to be sanded like if they have swirls sinkholes, dips, bumps, etc. then decide if your going to mod/pla plate/ scrib, if not then your ready to prime, witch in most cases i really reconmend, then spray on the color, then clear coat either gloss or semi, then panel line, then apply decals, then flat clear coat. lol kinda long but personally i think it tends to be good.

agreee 100%

but the more i don't use primer the more i question why i need it .
but i will say this, when your spraying from a can the paint goes on better with primer for some reason

Thnx guys for the Feedback appreciated, regarding to the color I know that it is finally up to me ^^, but can not hurt to ask ppl for opinion.

I certainly try to be patient and take my time thus I ask for sequence first as I take another step with either of the kits (also this hobby) and I would hate to
screw up by impatiently do stuff, I only got one bottle of spray paint Mr. Surfacer 1000 containing 100 ml, definately will use it on the HG Kshatriya
because I plan on trying some camoflage look with 3 colors and want to be sure the spraypaint stucks good on the kit. (no so much money at the time and
I would have to import another prime that is costly to me)

word of warning about that stuff, there inst alot in there so douseing the parts isnt nessisary. like all of other spray paint types, just do short even bursts. doing small layers/coats. and another thing about that mr surfacer is, it does hold paint very very very well. but can effect some spray paints, like what i used for my kampher, but i highly do think it was the paints fault really/ mine for getting that crap. people need to aviod krylon fusion spray paints :/

another thing about the surfacer, it does come out a bit fast

i think all spray primer is like that. testors/model master is. thats what bugs me the most about sprays.

I honestly dont think you really need to use a primer when your spray painting. Spray paint tends to be thicker then and air brush. The only time i would use a primer is if i was completely changing one color to an other color. I also Nip, denub the parts then lay them on a long strip of tape in the best position possible to get a nice good clean coat of paint on one or both sides if needed ( theres always a side the wont ever been seen on most parts so its easy to tell what is what if youve built many kits. i then do two coats a few passes each coating in small burst as to not waste paint. so i go Right, left, up and down then let dry. After its dry i do an other coat and make sure to get any area's i may have missed. I leave the parts on the cardboard and build from there then i add fine details by hand as i build as needed. then clear coat with a gloss, line and decal the kit then add a coat of matte clear. and its done and looks awesome.

Here is what you don't do... Drop your freshly spray painted PG Wing Zero Buster Rifle on an entry way rug...... T_T
Anyway, on a more serious note, It really depends on the brand for me. I have noticed that Rustoleum and Tamiya don't really require you to prime, I have never noticed much of a difference with these paints, however, with paints such as Testers (probably got name wrong), you will want to prime.

If you want, you can simply spray them on the tree, like you did, and treat it like an Extra Finish Bandai Kit ^_^ good luck with whatever you decide to do.
