Its been a while since I built an Armored Core Model so what better way of getting re-introduced to these kits than the Alicia Unsung.

This is how the kit will (hopefully ;) ) look once complete.

Posted Image

During the course of the WIP anyone familiar with the Aaliyah will note a lot of familiar parts.

I've started with the head and will move onto the main core for my next update.

Any questions on this kit, the build process or Armored Core models are most welcome.

Those small parts drive me crazy! They're the reason I've started staying away from AC kits...

You gotta love Koto kits though, so ridiculously detailed and sharp. I really like your silver panel lines, though, can't wait to see what you pump out next.

The gold is painted (Mr Hobby Gold H9), the original piece was a light grey color.

Thanks everyone for your kind comments :)

I got it from HLJ along with a couple of other kits late last year. It was 5,200 Yen which is about the same price as an average master grade.

Small update showing progress on the main core. I've used a Tamiya clear red directly onto the burgundy colored plastic and I'm pretty happy with the result.

@Ditzy, your 100% correct regarding the sharpness of armored core pieces (I recall you've a cronus Viixen which is particularly sharp). You can see from the picture below that the front of the core has a point almost as sharp as a hobby knife!

Note, the plastic piece painted in gunmetal had a very irregular finish however this will not be visible when the core is completed.

Hopefully I'll be able to do justice to the kit. Its a very different building experience to gunpla due to the both the size (some pieces are so tiny you need tweezers to pick them up) and sheer number of pieces involved.

Some more progress on the main core. Looks like the Armored Core mecha designers are motor racing fans ;)

Unusually for an Armored Core kit, I've had to use some glue to get the small pieces on either side of the rear spoiler to stay in place.

Applying the lining onto the gold painted pieces at the front of the core was actually a lot more tricky than I expected. Gundam marker is very poor on Mr Hobby paint so I had to use a 0.05 micron marker to get a decent line.

judging by the size of the pieces compared to the razor of the hobbyknife it is really tedious work, nice mate! ;)

Finally finished the Core and I'm pretty happy with the way it turned out, painting the detail took much longer that I expected because the parts are so small and I had to be extra careful with the brush.

Some more Alicia Unsung progress, I've finished the waist and moved onto the shoulder.

Pictured below are the pieces which make up the shoulders before painting. I usually leave a little piece of the tree attached to any pieces I have to brush paint to make handling easier.

I've finally finished the shoulders which actually turned out to be a little more tricky to paint than I initially expected (particularly the small gold and black vent covers seen in the first, second and fourth image).

I'm aiming to complete both arms this weekend before moving on to the legs and weapons (which are all designs unique to the Unsung).
