GHD brand Gunpla; Worried :S

I know Prime 92 said GHD was a Poor brand to go with, but I'm not sure about their entire range. Prime only tried out the 1/100 Seed destiny line... I'm kinda curious about the others. I've been to walter hobby and I want to pick up some knockoffs (those of you who know my plight about paying for Gunpla in Australia will forgive me). Two models that caught my eye are the 1/144 Dendrobium and the 1/100 MG Titans MK2 2.0. I've had a look at the TT Hongli brand gunpla, and nothing really catches my eye like these two.

For me, the price of the Dendrobium will be around $30US after shipping and the MK2 will be about $40US after shipping.

Kinda worried though, is it worth taking the gamble with GHD brand?

That's why it's called a gamble... GHD offers more models compared to other fakers that's for sure.

Only if we could find some opinions of some people that bought them. Only reason I'd buy GHD is if I were to do a custom kit.

Luckily the people in another forum I participate in makes reviews of originals and fake kits.

before and after fixing

The usual negative comments were, bad fittings (too loose/tight), not much molded detail, and plastic quality really bad.

That's IT!!! Midnight Star, now you MUST buy it! Then write a super detailed review for us so we can continue to build a catalogue of Gundam-Eclipse hosted... well written reviews on the pro's and cons of not just genuine Bandai, but also these GH-DEE and T-TEE Hongri brand Gunpla. Then people will come to this forum out of morbid curiosity to further their knowledge for these kits both good and bad.

xD (but I am actually half serious! could be the edge we are after... via your selfless sacrifice)

For a 1/144 Dendrobium for $30 (AFTER shipping), I'd say GO FOR IT..the Bandai is like $200!

You are talking about the HUGE mobile armor, right?

I just went and checked out that Dendrobium model, it's actually a 1/150 scale, not 1/144, so not really that great of a deal.

haha, you know, I might just do it :P Next fortnight I'll send the order out. I'm really curious myself. And at $30 it's really not thaaaaaat much of a financial crisis. But of course if I do buy it I'll definitely be writing a review for you guys. and at the thing about it being 1/150 scale as opposed to 1/144, I'm really not that fussed. It'll be roughly the same size as a 1/144, probably a negligable size difference.

But yeah, I'm not sure weather to give the Dendrobium a try or the MK 2 Titans. In my mind, dendrobium is going to be a smaller model with smaller parts, harder to screw up. 1/100 will be larger so could be better. $10 isn't a big deal between both. I mean, both are models I really want... What do you guys think?

That dendrobium is the big one in the pic right? I won't mind even if it's at 1/200

Dendrobium is the massive combination between the GP03 Stamen gundam and the Orchis mobile armour
Posted Image
This is the bandai version. We've got no clue how alike the Dendrobium from GHD is to the Bandai one.

The alternate to it is the 1/100 MG Titans MK 2 gundam pictured here:
Posted Image
Again, this is the bandai version not the GHD version so I'm not sure how alike the GHD is.

Ditzy, it'd be a big help if you posted the link to the build the guy did on the other forum you go to.

Can't help much about other kits, since it was established way back that GHD kits suck so the Stamen review was the only one from UC. Others are the seed kits and they suck as bad.

Posted Image

Also, they told me GHD sells the dendrobium at 1/550. Just make sure its 1/144.
The kit is not sold in the bootleg shops here so nobody knows for sure how bad(99%) the quality is.

Oops, I meant to put 1/550, sorry about that. If you get it, the mobile suit will be extremely tiny and the Dendrobium itself will be about a large as a 1/100, I think. Look it up on Youtube.

At $30 it must be the 1/550 version, since there isn't any 1/150 version on gunpla.
$30 could barely make it for shipping alone, the size of the box is a little bigger than PG GP01, the difference of 1/550 and 1/144 in length would be 1 feet vs 1 meter

It looks melted :(

Is that a GHD Brand? Wow that thing looks pretty bad, I think I would rather save my money and get a real one.

Honestly, if it's the 1/550, DON'T get it... the Bandai version is like 15 dollars. You can buy the Neue Ziel with the other 15 dollars too

look further down

Item name : GP03 Dendrobium (HG Mechanics) (Gundam Model Kits)
Manufacturer : GHD
Scale : 1/550
Series : HG Mechanics
Original : Gundam 0083

The title MUST be a typo. 8USD for a KO of a 200USD original from Bandai? I'm pretty sure its a typo

You know, the Bandai Mg RX-178 Gundam MK-II 2.0 really isn't all that expensive. On Walter Hobby, the GHD knock off retails at $20 US, whereas the Bandai version retails for $34, but that extra $14 you spend on the kit will get you so much higher quality (I assume). Cause that picture that ingenhk posted, the plastic looked melted, so I'm just saying, maybe it would be better to save your money? Or go with TT Hongli, cause they seem to be better.

NG 1/100 and MG by GHD usually has bad quality, like loose joints, bad fittings, large gaps/seamlines. You really have to modify the kit and use super glue on some parts. But on NG 1/60 it's bearable.

Posted Image
GHD 1/60 Strike Freedom Lightning Edition $28
GHD 1/60 Freedom $16

These have no modifications, just cleaned up some excess plastic. But joining the pieces together were tough. Some parts were also glued.
