Yes, I believe it takes place in UC 0153. The V gundam looks cool, but I am not sure if the story is that interesting. It looked like some kid and his grandfather when I watched a clip of it.

Victory is definately the grimmest Gundam series ever produced. You know how Tomino is dubbed "Kill'em all Tomino" by his fans? THIS is the series he's earned it for. Victory has such a desperate tone, it's tough watching it because there's so many people suffering and dying in this series, especially on the side of the good guys. The fact that the series' protagonist is only 13 years old adds to that. Prominent characters die all the time.

When you watch this series and then compare it Tomino's latest involvement in Gundam, Turn A, you can hardly believe it's by the same guy.

And yes, it takes place in Universal Century 0153.

I've moved this thread to the UC section since it's UC. But yeah. Tomino can get pretty brutal sometimes with his anime. If anyone's watched Ideon, it's a good example of Tomino's "kill em all". Haven't seen Victory yet, but i've seen clips of it. One of the weirder ones was the bikini babe assault

its not bad , but yeah lots of characters died in the middle and end of the show
but overall its still fares well , the good guys triumph in the end defeating the bad guys and etc.
i saw the review of the kit , it was made in 1994 , it seems quite good
does anyone own the kit ? V2 ? V2 Buster ? v2 assault , Buster and assault can combine into V2 assault buster

I am converting the first two episodes to watch on my weekend trip, wish me good luck with them! I hope the series is good. When I get back, I may finish the series or watch Zeta gundam.

There probably won't be any more MGs until Unicorn comes out and the demand for series that are later in UC increases. You'll probably like some of the Federation and LM suits in this, but the bug like designs from BESPA is kind of hit and miss like Turn A. One thing that I do like is that for the better part of the show Gundams are mass produced and fairly weak like in 8th ms team.

I just re watched this a few months ago because the MG was coming out and i didnt really find it all that bad the first or 2nd time i watched it. To me its not any worse then zeta death wise. A lot of the characters that die dont really have a whole lot of back-story behind them so the lack of real feelings towards that certain character is very limited. There a few grew some deaths though which is always a good thing. The main gribe i had with the anime is that there was a whole lot of useless eps tossed in the mix so it made the show drag on for me at some parts there could have easily been a far shorter version of the story told that gets right to the points without losing a whole lot of the actual story.

I just finished watching Turn a Gundam, now am going to start on V next week, from everything i heard and read about it, it's very brutal, exact opposite of Turn a Gundam.

I hear some of the eps have some suggestive themes, not as bad as seed. xD

i just finished V gundam a few days ago and its definitely more difficult to watch than other gundam series. i liked the aspect of the victory being weak and mass produced like in 08th ms team as well as the battle ship designs: Reinforce Junior and Motorad. i read before hand that this was a kill em all series and it really was. but i think Zeta was more brutal in the last episode becuz basically all the main cast got killed off whereas in V it wasnt as grim. the fact that the V was a docking moblie suit really annoying me becuz along with the comical aspect of Uso and his friends, it reminded me of ZZ Gundam. i never liked the part forming mobile suits becuz it always leaves room for things to happen to the other parts like getting blown up, someone stealing a piece so it cant dock, or just stealing the whole thing all together. this just leaves room for filler episodes where this happens. the story got a little strange towards the end, but all in all i think it was pretty good.

The Motorad fleet was apparently Tomino taking the piss; the executives told him that there needed to be more spaceships or whatever, because kids like spaceships, and he told them that wasn't possible, because most of the story takes place on Earth. They pressed the matter, and he tried to come up with the silliest idea he could, or so it goes.

I hate part-formers too, but Victory did it with style; it never got old seeing a pair of boots smash into an enemy.

Victory is my favorite gundam series UC or other wise. Even though its scope is less epic that Zeta and it set years in to the future to completely separate it from the rest of UC. My favorite characters (with the exception of char) reside in Victory. Uso is a great lead, he may be the youngest gundam pilot but he never comes across as annoying or immature like other gundam leads have at times.

That was AWESOME!!!

My friends and I just finished watching ZZ and are, curently, watching Victory. So far, I'm liking what I am seeing. The show has already given us plenty of "OH, $#^%!!" moments and we are only 8 episodes in...Of course, I can't wait to see the Bikini Babe attack with the group...

I watched Victory recently. It's one of my top Gundam series and is very deserving of being the longest series to date.

Victory is a great series. It's part of my top 3 along with Turn A and Zeta. It's really tough to watch, though. I can only watch it bits at a time. I won't spoil how it happens, but a character literally gets decapitated by a space ship. The show just lingers on the head flying across the sky. It's quite disturbing.

I liked Victory, though it seemed really slow and dragged out at times. Probably my third favourite series.

Victory is the future of UC Gundam universe. the last of the anime chronologically speaking I believe. So I guess all paths lead to Victory. Someone once said that all alternate universes also end with victory, which I'm not sure about.
