Share with us what you use to capture video for your YouTube videos!

99% of my vids I use my Tape based MiniDV Canon MV920
Transfer to PC via IEEE1394 Firewire
Edit with Ulead Video Studio 8

Satisfied with the picture quality

Not so happy that :
Takes 10min to transfer 10min of video to PC.
Lots of mechanical tape mechanism sounds are recorded by the mic.
The LCD shows a cropped image so I find the final footage later on my PC shows things in the frame that I didn't see when shooting the video live.

I am considering changing camera...

If you use something "other" than the items listed in the poll, pls comment to say what you actually use.

I used a Logitech Quickcam Pro 9000, which is a PC Webcam. You connect to your computer via a USB port. The only two things you need to install is the drivers for the camera and the Logitech recording software. I can record anywhere in my house because I have a laptop with the service pack on it (for windows). You can adjust focus and edit all kinds of settings like contrast, brightness and colour saturation while you are regarding; you can make some pretty cool effects on camera. It was one of the best webcams around, but it cost around $130. Since it is a webcam with weird shape to it, it is kind of hard to angle with.

One week before I started uploading videos I got a Canon Powershot A590 IS digital camera for 110 €. My old digicam (Powershot A60) died and so his was just a replacement. The video capabilities are quite nice with a resolution of 640x480 and auto focus. I'm really amazed of the macro function. Recording a video of one object sharp 4 cm in front of the lense is quite cool. But the auto focus is slow when recording videos and the wide angle isn't that satisfying.
Don't need HD. My crappy laptop can't even play the videos without stutters and audio getting ouit of sync.

I use a digital camera's video funtion. And I must say, the quality isn't that bad.
It definitely gets a great image if I'm at a far distance from an object, and if I'm not moving it around.
Otherwise, if I move it around, the quality becomes choppy and wavy, I hope to get a real
video camera for videos someday.
You know you've accomplished something when you start to say things like - "Just my two cents."

I have bought a canon HF100 camcorder for general use to shoot video of me, the Mrs. and Jr. etc...
It uses memory cards and shoots in HiDef.

SUPER Overkill for YouTube, but I have it so I'll use it...

My dad is having my MiniDV.

The windmill video was shot using this new camcorder. Tell me if you see any difference and judge for yourself compared to say the video of the MSIA RX-78-2 which was done with my old MiniDV.
I don't think it is a massive upgrade in quality for YouTube personally...

New HiDef

Old MiniDV

Well the new camera seems to handle light reflection slightly better (clearer, less fuzzy, gradients) , but I don't see a huge difference in quality because of youtube.

I use a Kodak digital camera's movie feature. Like someone above me said, easy downloading. The only problem I have is that it records in .mov file format, so I have to go through a converter or do a review/unbox in one take.

I don't have my camera with me, but just finished the review on my O-Riser and will get it up on Youtube as soon as it's edited.

Yeah and you couldn't edit the .mov without converting them unless you had something expensive like Ulead, Sony Vegas or After Effects.

for myself i use Copy and Convert 3, which takes a buttload to time just to convert a video. Thats why i rarely edit my videos, its such a hassle

I use my compact digital camera's video feature. For close-up filming with minimal amounts of movement (as opposed to fast-paced sporting action) it does the job very well.
